Praying Like a Missionary

to finish our great commission during our generation

Missionary prayer

Missionaries often go into unknown lands, to unknown peoples, to reach those that do not know God. Prayer missionaries are no different although they go in the Spirit to bring people before God.

We believe that fervent and persistent prayer for the nations will result in God's kingdom come and will be done on earth as it is in heaven. What would happen to the world if every Christian prayed the great commission daily?

The church will be dramatically transformed if it consistently prayed for all peoples from all continents. An increase in missionary laborers would appear, salvation throughout the world would be unprecedented, and God would be well glorified.

Prayer is not just preparation for mission. It is a necessity of mission. There are no laws, governments, or barriers that can keep us from praying God's kingdom come to all continents and peoples - only our will to join the Father's will.

"In no other way can the believer become as fully involved with God's work, especially the work of world evangelism, as in intercessory prayer." (Dick Eastman)

Our Priorities

Prioritizing the Gospel impoverished

We pray for all peoples and give special attention to those who live in cultures that have never had access to the gospel. These peoples who live without access to the gospel should get the opportunity to hear. It has been reported that only 3% of missionaries go to these unreached groups and this needs to be changed and reprioritized dramatically. Most unreached people groups are in Asia and second most are in northern Africa. We can change the numbers of missionaries to unreached peoples by shifting the prayer emphases to these people.

Praying persistence

We persistently pray at least three simple prayers for all the inhabited continents of the world (North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia).

1. God's kingdom come (Matthew 6:10)

2. More disciple makers (Luke 10:2)

3. All to be saved (1 Timothy 2:1-4)

These simple prayers often lead into more specific prayers for specific countries and peoples, particularly the unreached and never reached.

Praying persistently adds weight to the scales of breakthrough and fills the bowls of incense before the throne of God.

Praying big

We believe in praying big and courageous prayers. Why pray small when you can pray big? Sure, it takes more faith and courage to pray big, but that shouldn't stop us. Jesus has authorized us to pray big prayers in His powerful name and He has sent His Spirit to pray with power.

Praying partnerships

We believe that the power of prayer is multiplied when it is done with multiple people. Jesus sent His disciples out in pairs when He sent them on mission - so did the church in Antioch. We believe there is a magnification in prayer results when at least two or three gather and pray in His name.
